M Craft
Silver&Fire', the debut album from Martin Craft was released in the summer of 2006 to great acclaim.. here's what a few people said.. "THE WORK OF A MAN ON TOP OF HIS GAME" DAZED AND CONFUSED, "A UNIQUE AND INTOXICATING TALENT" CLASH, "A POISED LEISURELY AMALGAM OF LATE NIGHT SOUL GAINSBOURG LIKE POP AND CRAFTS FINE VOICE" UNCUT, "FANTASTIC" VICE, "POP NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD" THE FLY, "A REFRESHING BREEZE TO RUFFLE ALL PRECONCEPTIONS" **** TIMEOUT, "SIMPLY CAPTIVATING" THE SUN, "MARTIN CRAFTS SONGS ARE PERFECTLY SELF CONTAINED WORLDS THAT DEFY CATEGORISATION" THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY, "DIVINE" THE OBSERVER", Martin Craft is a songwriter, bon-vivant, musician who lives in dalston, london... his current album, 'Silver&Fire' is a show of songwriting of the hightest order and great imagination... this album is built on sparkling melodies sung by a rich melancholic voice... deft lyrics, which range from the lonely folk of 'i got nobody waiting for me' to the sharp-tongued 'snowbird', and M. Crafts nifty finger picking, psych-electric lead guitars, and meandering, melodic bass parts. added are the wickedly good drums provided by Dark Circles drummer Paul Cook, and the trademark layers of sweet, sad or sometimes sultry vocals from Tree Carr and Maya Lubinsky. his 2004 solo debut 'i can see it all tonight' was delicate and eclectic, with sounds ranging from dusty road songs to opium-lounge music..it was also critically acclaimed- dazed and confused called him 'one of the most distinctive voices in songwriting in the 21st century' and the independent said 'we're talking major new talent-you should hear this!" After this release M.Craft went underground for a year and a half to record an album that was hampered by a series of disasters including two false starts which blew almost the whole budget and a serious rock'n'roll guitar amp electrocution which made it hard to move for a while... but despite the odds the brilliant album, 'Silver&Fire', now all good record stores across the UK. 'Silver&Fire' will also soon be released in the USA, Australia, France, and hopefully other many good holiday destinations. Martin Craft is an Australian who lives in London, UK. in 1991, at 15, he co- founded classic Australian band 'Sidewinder' whose fire burned bright throughout the nineties.. always troubled, they split in 2000.. wanderlust led Martin to london where he has lived ever since. Please get in touch if you like but don't neccessarily expect a reply from Martin Craft, his management looks after this site (he is a very poor myspacer and prefers to meet people over a Maker's Mark than a computer screen!)
