Fairport Convention

Saturday Night HEADLINE ACT!
Moseley Folk Festival are chuffed to the back teeth as Mike Harding would say to have Fairport headlining Saturday night at this years festival.

Formed in April 1967 and credited with being the first English folk-rock band. Fairport rapidly developed from playing cover versions of American 'west coast' style music to an individual style which melded rock music with traditional English tunes and songs.

Enjoy a Fortieth Anniversary concert with the legendary band featuring Simon Nicol (guitar, vocal), Dave Pegg (bass, backing vocal), Chris Leslie (fiddle, mandolin, vocal), Ric Sanders (violin), and Gerry Conway (drums).

Fairport Convention have attracted huge critical acclaim and delighted audiences for four decades. During that time, the members have also developed the world-famous music festival at Cropredy.

In 2002, Fairport Convention won the coveted BBC Radio 2 Lifetime Achievement Award. Four years later, Radio 2 listeners voted Fairport Convention's album Liege & Lief 'The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time' and the band received the accolade at the 2006 BBC Folk Awards. The album has since gone on to win a Gold Disk for Fairport.

The band's greatest strength has always been live performance and Fairport Convention's concert will present an exciting mix of the old and new. Longstanding favourites such as Matty Groves and Meet On The Ledge will share the bill with new songs from their lastest anniversary album titled Sense of Occasion released in January 2007.
